Motorcycles and/or Scooters

Hi...and welcome to the Vintage Motorcycle area. Within this area, my intent is to look at a number of motorcycles that fit in the "vintage" classification. And just what is a "vintage" cycle?

Well, if you have been reading other areas of this website, you'll find that "vintage" and "retro" have different interpretations in different situations. My way of looking at and classifying motorcycles in this area is this. If it was manufactured before 1985, that is what I consider "vintage".

Motorcycle Dealers and/or Dealerships in Michigan

In this area, I plan to talk about, and interview when possible, some of the motorcycle dealers that have been in business in Michigan. A lot of these dealers have been..or were in business during the 20's, 30's and especially the 50's, 60's and on. They represent motorcycle brands that are still around and a number of them (Bultaco, Ossa, Montesa, CanAm, etc.) that have come and gone.

In the area of interviews, I want to give people an idea of what it was like for dealers, back before large dealership stores. Back to a time when motorcycles were sold in hardware stores. Or a garage. Or, even in catalogs like Sears, Montgomery Wards, Spiegel, etc. Remember them? Motorcycles like Sears 106 and 124 (made by Gilera in Italy, I believe). Or Benelli sole by Wards (made in Italy). Or, my favorite...and first new "cycle", a Jawa 05A (made in Czechoslovakia) and sold by Spiegel.
