Welcome to Michigan Vintage & Retro |
The intent of this website is to remember the past…enjoy the present…and to educate the future.
Use this site to gain information for yourself and/or use it to begin conversations with your friends or family. Remember things yourself or ask your parents, grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles and others for more insight. We need to treasure our heritage, to look at where we have been, how we have progressed and all the things that have happened along the way. The “Good ‘ol Days” are different for everyone….but they bring back so many good memories.
I started this website with the idea of showcasing motorcycles because that is one of my favorite things. However, as I have worked on this website and talked to some friends and family, it has become apparent that there are lots of “vintage” and “retro” things that people are interested in and while there are specific sites for different things, I intend this website to be a kind of state-wide “first-stop” for information and events with links to the more specific websites.
I subscribe to the “acorn-theory”, which means this site will start small and grow into something bigger as time goes on. There are plans for areas related to motorcycles, tractors, cars, trucks, boats, travel trailers, old farm equipment, old sports-related memorabilia, toys, etc. There will also be areas for calendars of events, links, restoration hints & projects, picture galleries, a buy/swap area, discussion forums, a list of related businesses and/or advertisers and lots more. We will also have an area (“What Is This?”) where people can post a picture and ask others to explain what it is.
This website is meant to grow in relation to the people that visit and use it, which means that you and your interests and ideas will help to shape how this website evolves. So, please take a look. Tell us what you like or would like to see. And if there is something that doesn’t make sense or is difficult to work with, let us know about that too. This website is intended to belong to those that use it. |
